Thirty-five years ago today a paramount event happened. That’s right; yours truly was born. IT’S MY BIRTHDAY Y’ALL. Whoop whoop! Which means it’s time to party and boy do I have some treats for you. But first, I would like to take a minute to share my personal birthday tradition.
One Year Older
In the spirit of all honesty, this birthday snuck up on me. For about two weeks I have been dreading this birthday. I think a big reason is my youthful notions that 30 is old. Now, rolling into my mid-thirties, I don’t feel old. I feel great actually. Yet, that mindset was lingering. Until yesterday, when I started my birthday tradition and once again was excited about my birthday. I am blessed with 35 years on this earth. I have learned lessons, acquired wisdom, accomplished goals, loved deeply, and laughed loudly. And from where I am, I can see a bright future.
Some people make New Year’s Resolutions. But not me! I don’t do very well with New Year’s Resolution. Instead, I make New Year’s Plans (In January I will…) and Birthday Resolutions. I like birthday resolutions better because it just feels more personal. I like to take the night before a birthday and spend it reflecting on what all has happened throughout the year. What have I learned and where should I work to be better? Taking this moment always helps me stay grounded and optimistic about the future.
This year I wrote about 15 birthday resolutions. But, I wanted to share three of my favorites with you. Whether you write New Years Resolutions or Birthday Resolutions, I would love for you to join me in my new goals!
Face My Fears
I plan to step out of my comfort zone and try things that I typically shy away from doing. I will NOT be jumping out of a plane. But I just might start doing some video tutorials or Facebook live! For some reason, this is something I shy away from, but the only way to grow is to face our fears, right?
This has been a struggle for me. I am addicted and every time I try I seem to run right back. But I have made a plan (which I will share in a different post) and will quit for good!
Live More Sustainably
I have been good about this in my health, beauty, and food choices. Now, I intend to work towards my fashion and fun purchases. I want to work on the global impacted my decisions are making and strive to do my part to help small businesses, women in business, and those struggling around the world.
