Follow my four steps to have gorgeous healthy hair through a night time hair routine. Your will be surprised at how many good hair days you have!

Healthy Hair Overnight

For those of you who know me, I am a firm believer that hard work is the only way to achieve goals. Success does not happen overnight. Except in the case of healthy hair. I have come up with a healthy hair regimen that works while you sleep. Now don’t get me wrong. You will not wake up after one night with “commercial worthy” locks. But if you consistently follow these steps you will be surprised at the number of “good hair days” you start to have. Gorgeous hair doesn’t require chemicals. Just a little hair TLC!

Healthy Hair Tip 1: Massage Your Scalp

After brushing through my hair each night I always give my scalp a massage. Not only does it feel amazing but massaging your scalp for 3-5 minutes helps increase blood circulation. This simple action awakens the hair follicles stimulating hair growth and promoting healthy, vibrant hair.

And as a bonus, you will feel the stress of the day melt away! My favorite way to massage is with my [easyazon_link identifier=”B0047O1PG8″ locale=”US” tag=”sustainab09a-20″ popups=”y”]hand held scalp massager[/easyazon_link]. I first received this as a gift when I was a teenager and haven’t been without it since. It seriously feels amazing!

Healthy Hair Tip 2: Oil Your Hair

After I massage my scalp, I always “oil” my hair. I know it sounds strange since most of us are trying to keep oil out of our hair. But the little-known truth is that every hair type needs oil! Oil has been used traditionally in many Asian and African cultures to promote beautiful hair. Cleopatra was even known to use oils to keep her hair long, strong, and healthy. But why oils you may ask? The fatty acids in oils help protect your hair strands and replace the lipids that are lost as your hair grows. Without lipids, your hair starts to thin and split resulting in the dreaded split ends. Oils also repair damage to the shaft and help seal the cuticle resulting it strong, thick hair.

I love to add essential oils to my nightly oiling. These oils give my hair a boost of extra beneficial properties targeted to my needs. You can add a single essential oil to your favorite carrier oil, or you can make my DIY Strong Hair Serum. I love this serum and spray it nightly on my scalp and through the ends. It contains essential oils of Rosemary (hair growth), Clary Sage (circulation), Cedarwood (moisture), and Lavender (shine & growth). It’s very easy to make and one of my favorite DIYs. I always see a huge difference in my split ends after doing this a few nights a week. To learn more about the high-quality essential oils I love, be sure to click HERE.

Healthy Hair Tip 3: Rock A Braid

Once all of the oil is in my hair, it’s time to contain it. I don’t know about you, but I sleep all over the place. And my cats are typically all over me. I’m not sure how Chris sleeps…I’m out like a light every night. When I wake up, however, my hair looks like Frankenstein! Crazy tangles all over the place which result in pain, creases, and split ends. Not to mention the oil getting on my face. Uck! My ‘go to’ is a braid! Occasionally I will wrap it up (short hair gals this is for you) or do a messy bun but 90% of the time it’s a loose braid. And don’t forget to tie it off with one of those fabulous 80’s scrunchies. Soft and loose protects from split ends!

Healthy Hair Tip 4: Weekly Mask

This doesn’t fall under my “overnight” routine, but I felt it was worth mentioning. If you haven’t tried a hair mask yet, you should. They are amazing! You will not believe how much shine and healthy bounce they will add. I typically do a mask once a week early morning pre-shower. I add the mask to my hair, wrap it up, and then heat it for quick and easy absorption into my hair follicles and scalp. My favorite no mess way to do this is with my [easyazon_link identifier=”B0050OX4O0″ locale=”US” tag=”sustainab09a-20″]Hair Therapy Wrap[/easyazon_link]. This wrap contains heating pouches inside that you can heat in the microwave or in boiling water (if you have given up the microwave like me!). Simply heat it up and wrap it around your head. There are no cords which means you can keep moving forward with your day! It has completely changed my hair mask game. So much easier to do a quick mask when it doesn’t require a ton of clean up!

If you’re looking for a new hair mask I would highly recommend [easyazon_link identifier=”B00S4FU92W” locale=”US” tag=”sustainab09a-20″]Hello Hair[/easyazon_link]. Their masks are amazing, clean, and perfect for all hair types. I feel like my hair looks the best when I use them consistently. Give them a try. Your hair will thank you by looking gorgeous!
